Physical Education

The children have physical education on Wednesdays and Thursdays with Mrs. Palmer. This week they played hand/eye coordination games. The children worked in groups of three and rotated around the gym playing the following games: ring toss, ball toss (yarn and whiffle), bean bag toss, bowling, and scooter hockey. As you can imagine, the kids loved it! It was like one giant carnival!

Mentoring

This is Katie McPeak who is a senior majoring in Political Science. Katie comes to our classroom twice a week to fulfill requirements needed for a mentoring class she is taking. Time flies quickly...I was Katie's kindergarten teacher many years ago!

URI Mentors

This semester the children (and I) are lucky to have two URI students working in our classroom. This is Brianna who's majoring in Elementary Education. She volunteers her time in the classroom to receive community service hours and to add to her experience in the field of education.

Yes/No Surveys

In the investigation, "Collecting Data About Our Class", children learn to compose simple yes/no survey questions. They love to collect and record the data using clipboards and classlists as they go around to record their friends' responses. The next step is to explain and interpret results and present data to each other. Some of the questions were: Do you like snow? Are you 5? Do you like me?
